Technical Requirements

There are two levels of technical requirements for CAN 8.

Level 1: If your computer is at level 1, you will be able to use all of the capabilities of CAN 8

Level 2: If your computer is at level 2, you will be able to use all of the capabilities of CAN 8 EXCEPT recording your voice.

For students in the French department, this means that you will need to go to the CLÉO lab to finish certain exercises.

 

Computer Specifications

Level 1:

  • Intel Pentium IV 2ghz or AMD64 2400 or higher
  • 256mb of RAM or more
  • High Speed Internet with Ethernet Card
  • Full-duplex Sound Blaster Live, equivalent or better, Sound Card.  (Please note that if your computer's sound comes directly from your motherboard, it is not likely that you will be to record) 
  • Speakers and microphone (or headset with microphone)
  • Windows 98 or higher
  • Mouse

Level 2:

Please note that every computer is different and your computer, despite meeting these requirements, may not be able to run CAN -8

  • Intel Pentium III 550 MHz or Higher
  • 128mb of RAM of more
  • Any 16 bit or higher sound card and speakers
  • Windows 98 or higher
  • 56k dial-up Internet Connection or higher.
