Installation Notes

Can 8 will not run on a MAC or on Linux.  We have not tested it on Virtual PC

If you receive the error, "16-bit subsystem error" your computer has corrupted configuration files for 16-bit programs.  You have probably never seen this error because most programs are 32 bit and use different configuration files.

If you have Windows 2000, please follow the instructions here in order to fix the problem

If you have Windows XP, please follow the instructions here in order to fix the problem

If you do not have an XP or 2000 CD, click here to download the files you need.  Extract the two files and put them in your \windows\system32 directory.

Software firewalls like ZoneAlarm may automatically recognize the activity and ask you if you want to proceed.  If you say NO, CAN 8 will not work

Hardware firewalls need to be configured.  Please read your user manual to determine the best way
